MERA majors in software R&D for high-availability mission-critical server-side solutions. And the company constantly searches for ways to broaden its competences in different technological domains, so nowadays MERA is heavily involved into development of client-side front-end solutions such as mobile phone application development. MERA's technological competence in telecom covers various wireline/wireless/converged and enterprise communications nodes and solutions as well as protocol stacks and tools.
In 2010 MERA became a full member of the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI), a European non-profit standardization organization which produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). ETSI membership gives MERA an opportunity to be involved in global telecommunications standards development.
Also since 2010 MERA takes part in the development of a new mobile communications standard - Rich Communication Suite (RCS). The RCS Initiative is the joint effort of key telecom industry players to ensure rapid adoption of applications and services that provide an interoperable, convergent, rich communication experience. The GSMA program features the world’s leading telecom operators and manufacturers such as Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, Nokia, Orange, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Telecom Italia, Telefonica and TeliaSonera.
